South West Communications (SWComms) was started in Exeter, Devon, in 1983, by the company’s now Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Tony Rowe OBE, initially selling computers and business telephony systems into a newly deregulated telephone.
Since then, SWComms has grown into a formidable single solution communications provider, offering a range of voice connectivity and data services for businesses and organisations of all sizes.
With its head office still in Exeter, along with its purpose-built data centre, SWComms now employs over 120 people and had a turnover of £18M in 2016. The Group continues to grow, both in size and technological expertise, to meet the ever-changing demand for more efficient, secure, scalable, cost-effective and reliable communication solutions.
Their market has expanded as well, with services enjoyed by clients in London, the South East, the West Midlands, and South Wales and of course the South West; where it serves a loyal and large customer base across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset.
With their roots still firmly in Devon, SWComms has been supporting Premiership rugby team the Exeter Chiefs for 20 years and is currently the club’s main sponsor as well as the first team sponsor and Community Chiefs sponsor.
SWComms is a true regional business success story, winning numerous industry accreditations and prestigious business awards. The involvement between SWComms and Thompson Jenner goes back over 20 years and was founded from the start on strong, valued working relationships and trusted advice. The firm has not only provided a range of accountancy, audit and tax services, but has also given proactive strategic business advice, which has played an integral part in supporting SWComms with its expansion and continued success.
Thompson Jenner continues to work alongside SWComms to support with:
SWComms have used Thompson Jenner as our accountants and auditors for many years and Neil Curtis and his team have been a constant source of sound advice and support throughout our long relationship. For us the important thing has been to have great working relationships with those we work alongside and to be confident that we are getting a first class service, trusted advice and our advisers are bringing real value to the business.
Thompson Jenner has fulfilled that objective and has consistently given us the highest level of service, business advice and total commitment to our needs. All of which has been of great value as we have continued to grow and in no small way has contributed to our on going success. We see Neil as very much part of our team, attending our board meetings and offering clear practical help and advice. Luckily Neil is also a keen rugby supporter and he can occasionally be seen at the odd Exeter Chiefs match!
